One of my biggest gripes with the direction of my beloved hip-hop is that so many of the people in the culture take pride in being a dumb ass. But every now and again there is a beacon of light shining in a way that positively reflects on hip-hop and rap music and the whole lot of the culture. Turn to 9th Wonder, or should we say Professor 9th Wonder.

Remember “Speech” from “Arrested Development”? Well, some may have thought he and Arrested Dev’ had fallen off the face of the earth after smashing the industry with two Grammy Awards in 1993 for Best New Artist and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group, and also being named Band of the Year by Rolling Stone magazine. No one was messing with Arrested Development in 1993 and 1994. Few have stopped to think about the doors that they kicked in for the South and the trail that they blazed for acts like Outkast & Goodie MOB.
